The invention of the World Wide Web (WWW) marked a major
turning point in the history of the Internet and paved the way for the
development of e-commerce. Tim Berners-Lee, a British computer scientist
working at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, is credited
with inventing the WWW in 1989. His vision was to create a global system of
interlinked hypertext documents that could be easily accessed and shared by
anyone with an Internet connection. This innovation transformed the way we
access and share information and opened up new possibilities for communication,
education, and commerce.
E-commerce, or electronic commerce, refers to the buying and
selling of goods and services over the Internet. The widespread use of the
Internet, combined with advances in technology, such as the development of
secure payment systems, has made e-commerce a reality. Today, e-commerce is a
rapidly growing industry, with millions of people around the world buying and
selling products and services online. E-commerce has changed the way we do
business, making it easier and more convenient to shop, and has created new
opportunities for businesses to reach customers anywhere in the world.
